Throw Back to 2014 Race To The Sky

Race To The Sky 2015 is this weekend.  We had a blast last year as you can see in this post and have been looking forward to seeing it all again.  We are planning to do the vet check in Helena on Friday but the race starts in Seeley Lake on Saturday so you may want to check the schedule. Go to Race To The Sky.  We are opting to go for the free weekend in Yellowstone National Park.  Typical Montana winter with too many great outdoor things to do.  Hope you all enjoy the Race To The Sky!

On Friday Feb. 14, the vet checks for the Race to the Sky started for the 350 mile racers. The vets check the dogs for an entire ream of problems to make sure they are in 100% health for the start of the race. Below is an image of a dog with a green x marked on his fur. That signifies to the racer and the vet that the dog has been checked and is set to race. On this day there is also a Spaghetti Feed that serves as a meet and greet for the mushers and spectators as well as a fundraiser for Chapter 1 U.S. War Dog Association.

On Saturday Feb. 15, 2014 Montana’s 29th Annual Race to the Sky commenced at Rimini with the starts for the 350 mile racers. The event is so fun as the dogs get so amped up in preparation for the race and are great to watch. The start is very spectator oriented and you can find your spot along the trail to snap some great shots and/or video (such as the one we have posted below).  For all info Race to the Sky as well as musher profiles head on over to the site.
